Architectural 'Knivlagg' Knife rests
Christer Sjögren, c.1970s
Lindshammar Glasbruk, Sweden
A set of unusual vintage hand-cast glass knife rests designed by Christer Sjögren for Swedish galssworks, Lindshammar Glasbruk, in the 1970s.
Each knife rest is a block of glass with a slightly 'rusticated' shape and a deep niche moulded into one face. Cast glass is solid glass, hand-poured into a mould, and often incorporates small bubbles, ripples, swirls and striations - lending aspects of the unique to each piece.
One of the rests bears its original factory paper label, and they come complete with their original packaging which shows signs of age.
