18th Century Livery Cupboard Antique c.1890
Early Eighteenth Century Period Oak Antique Harness Cupboard
With A Delightful Country House Feel, This Charming Period Oak Antique Harness Cupboard is of pegged construction and dates from around 1700. It has a moulded cornice above a central cupboard door and panelled sides all with raised fielded panels. The interior has later brass hanging rails and hanging pegs. The lower section has raised fielded panels, two drawers with decorative brass handles. This splendid piece stands on raised feet and is full of the charm and character, repairs and alterations that you would expect to find from a piece over three hundred years old consistent with age and use, giving great character and authenticity . It also splits into two sections for easy removal and the oak has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
Items of this age and quality are becoming very rare to find, they are not just a beautiful piece of furniture but also a very good investment. A piece of furniture of this quality should sell for around £2500. In a London antique shop it may have a price tag of well over £3000.
